Well after leaving home over 24hrs ago & flying for just over 17hrs we have finally made it to Tokyo.
The 1st 2 flights were great Manchester to Frankfurt then Frankfurt to Hong Kong, as we all had a good sleep on the long 10 1/2hr flight over & woke up feeling refreshed & excited for our finally leg of the journey.
We had what we thought was just over 3hrs in Hong Kong before our final flight but that time soon vanished waiting for our cases to come off the A380 we had just over on. We waited & waited & waited some more watching our layover time slip away quickly.
We needed our cases so we could change terminals to re-check in for the final flight. You could see everybody around is starting to look worried why it was taking so long. After just over an hour waiting I found somebody to ask if they knew anything & just got told "cases come soon". Another 30 mins pass by & I went to ask again to see what time check in closed for our next flight & was told we had 20mins before it closed, now we were worried.
Finally after 1hr 45 mins waiting our 2 cases came into sight, John grabbed them & we ran round the corner to terminal 2. It was final call when we arrived at the bag drop & we sighed with relief that we had made this flight just & thought we could relax then & have a drink ..........
Little did we know how huge terminal 2 was. We went down the escalator to the lower level following the signs to gate 203(that number should of given us a hint really) after waking for what seemed like forever we reached passport control, great we thought finally we can have a drink before the flight wrong again. Passport control was great really fast & friendly it was the train we had to board to our gate & when that train ride finished we had to cross the platform to another gate when terminated at the gate we wanted. Then it was back up the escalators to the correct floor & then right down a long long walkway to find our gate. We hadn't sat down for more than 2 mins when the plane began boarding. So we went from having 3hra spare
in Hong Long to just making the flight but thank heavens we made it.
After a quiet 4 hr 30 min flight & the local time being 2330 we finally landed in Tokyo Haneda airport got our cases quickly & went through passport control & customs we finally stepped out into Tokyo.
Having landed so late we had no idea how to get into the city but they have so many staff & plenary who speak English it was easy enough to find out we could get the night bus to drop us off round the corner from our hotel whichever was fab.
We filled the signs which did have English writing underneath them & found our way to bus stop 3 were our cases were taken off us & tagged for the bus stop we wanted & we waiting less than 10mins for the bus to arrive bang on 0020 like we were told.
We had an u eventful right into the city & finally it was our turn to get off the bus. The heat hit us 1st as it was a hot & humid night. We found the hotel easily checked in went to the room dumped our bags & left as we were all starving hungry.
We had a little wander & found lots of places still open & even though it was just after 1am. John & I bother ordered rice & beef dishes Ollie on the other had wanted that traditional Japanese meal of sauagse & egg!!!!!!
Finally just before 2am we headed back to the hotel to some well earned sleep ready for our 1st day in this amazing city.
