Well it was an early wake up call for me today. Mom drove me out to the airport shortly after 420. Not for any paticular reason but i had to be there 2 hrs early. It was just pissing rain outside on the way out. My dad even got up to say goodbye. He even waved out the window which almost got me. Mom made me a cup of coffee and told me the whole way out that i should keep this travel mug in case i need it. I thought it would be a waste of space but kept it just to make her happy. Man im not gonna miss this rain thats for sure. Got out to the airport and it was busy already. The first flight to Vancouver was at 530! Ungodly hour of the day for sure. Checked in and the lady told me i could upgrade my seat for 170 or something but i told her shove it. Well not literally haha. Waited around the arrivals for quite some time killing time and taking in as much of the heavenly air i could. Got myself a tea and a bagel from timmys to satisfy the tummy.
Vancouver Island
love flying over the island Went through security and boarded the jammed plane in no time. I even got to use one of the only umbrellas they had to get to the plane. YES a window seat.
I sat beside this older fellow who had two golf mags. Wasnt untill the end of the flight that we started chatting. He was on his way to Sacremento to visit family. I told him about my journey and he was quite amused. He forgot his pillow when we made it to San Fran so i grabbed it and brought it through the airport untill i saw him. I told him i had some cuban cigars on me and didnt realize it. Ha kinda funny that its a big deal here. Got into line for security again. This time it was going to be a bit more serious.
I made it through but then they wanted to check what was in my carry on. They wanted to know where the knife was. Oh god i put my little Gerber tool in my carry on by accident. Well they said u have two options check it in your other bags or mail it home. Well i didnt have enough
time to do the first and the lady was a bit crazy so she made me mail it home after i told her a friends dad gave it to me. 10 dollars later it was in the mail. She said something truly American to me and i had to laugh. "Canada isnt international is it"!!!! haaaaaaaaaaaa. So funny.
Got through after i was ushered to the front by the nice customs lady. Then i hit up the duty free shops. I made a bit of a mistake not eating before getting through because they only had fancy smancy shops after security. Got myself some free samples of Baileys and i was off to my gate. Charged up my camera battery for a few mins and then boarded the massive 747.
I was in the middle of the row and the plane was jammed. Not much room for my little guitar but i managed. Met a really nice Thai girl who was going home from Texas for the first time in 2 years. I talked her ear off asking her questions like a freaking interagator. She wasnt much help to say the least.
The time just fly by after i was
informed booze was free. I tallied up 3 beer and about 10 drinks. HAHA everything from whiskey and coke to bloody marries to vodka orange.
I met a super nice girl from San Diego who i chatted with for about half the flight. I ended up talking to her when i was stretching and trying to scope out the rest of the plane. I helped a flight attendant who burnt herself get some ice and then saw the girl and ended up sitting down. We talked for hours about travelling work school and everything in between. Ppl from California always have something to say.
