Playground
Mihiro, Riho and Shino Picnic time My class, the Panda class made up of 3 and 4 year olds went for a (longish) walk and had a picnic in a beautiful park. I am happy to report that not all of the playgrounds here are as small as MEK's, and the equipment at this one was excellent, and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around. There was also the biggest bees I have ever seen, (they were seriously the size of a small bird as are the butterflies here), but thats another story. Next weeks excursion is a potato digging day and barbeque with the parents so I'm not really sure what thats all about but I'm sure there wil be photos!! This week we are making clocks because it is the anniversary of Greenwich mean time (try explaining that to kids who dont speak any English!!) and Fathers Day here is on the 30th of June so we will be making gifts for that too. At the start of every month we do earthquake training, which means I blow a whistle three times and yell "earthquake earthquake" and throw the cushions out to them, making sure they put it
Playground
Trying to get them all in a photo!! on their heads and crawl under the tables!!!! In between all the special occasions we have been learning about the weather, practising letters and numbers and general conversation, going on the bus to music and art and walking to the park or the playground. The kids are really very cute and it's so great to see them learning right in front of your eyes, from saying "my name is Kaoru" to gargling when they've finished lunch, to remembering the actions to 'Incy Wincy Spider', it's all amazing.
Shizuoka Temple Marissa and I headed to one of the temples in Shizuoka because we had heard that real live monks live there (i keep calling them buddhas by accident). Well we didnt see any monks but a horse with funny shoes on made the stopover worthwhile!!!
There are also photos of our NEW CHAIRS!!! Yes, we've finally found some and they are the best, i even fell asleep when snuggled up in one on Sunday night!
Stay tuned for photos from the long night out and Tokyo- headed there on the 9th of June. Love to all, aunties uncles, grandparents and friends- Happy Birthday Ben, Congratulations Carrie and
