"noodles city"
Empty "Noodles City" Today is the 1st day I arrived in jp- Osaka. On the plane, I saw it was raining!!! O… gosh! I don’t want my vacation all wasted in rain! In airport, I exchanged my JR pass receipt into real JR pass. The officer spoke English but with quite heavy accent. My English is not gd enough to listen to those… then I walked away w/ lists of doubts! I dunno how or in what conditions the pass can work. Then I walked to the gate & asked another officer how to get to the platform I was instructed to. Then he said “dozo” & I just pass through the gate! So just show the pass & pass through the channel!
But the rain became heavier! Due to my height, it’s already difficult for me to carry the big luggage case & the giant tall poster in sunny days. But now… it was raining! I’d to struggle w/ those things & the damn heavy rain! Luckily, my hostel is very near to the JR station. But unfortunately, the JR station had neither escalator nor elevator! That’s why Japanese is slimmer & healthier!
Then in the hostel office, I wanna checked
in, but the officer there seems didn’t know English much, so we can’t really communicate, I just let him see the print-out of the e-mail… then he handed the key to me.
After I settled, I went to Namba (難波) for the “Noodles city” after walking zillions steps (of course, some wrong step) from JR Namba station. (this time w/o asking ppl, just try by myself) Finally, I got there, but the heavy rain cool down my passion & upset me! & I’m disappointed how empty the “Noodles city” is. Then I sat down in a shop, just pick randomly. & I picked the only one got a photo on the menu (cost 780). Again, can’t communicate w/ the waitress! But the taste of the “rumen” was so HK-like (HK$20)! & the “museum shop” where many different variety of noodles could be bought was gone! O…no!
I walked to 道頓堀 (Dotonbori) , all around--- food, restaurants! Glico shop… souvenir! Ate ice-cream: the ice-cream was hit & then pull, then repeat again. Actually, kind of thrill, I Saw someone that I think I definitely can communicate w/ English! The ice-cream man! So I finally could communicate w/ someone… otherwise
my mouth would stink just like Shrek! Then I bought the “octopus ball” & took away because I was just 2 full & wanna save more time for strolling more places. Then suddenly “is the ice-cream gd?” came from a handsome guy w/ his cooh sunglasses at night. I recognized it was the ice-cream man! Actually, the ice-cream was gd, very smooth & not 2 sweet, I liked that, I tasted the chestnut flavor. If u guys sometime travel there, try one there! O-i-shi! There’re 2 flavor- chestnut & milk. & he suddenly said actually the milk flavor is better… I gave him a long face… I previously asked him which flavor better... he didn’t say so! May be it was just a trick… if I took milk flavor, he’d said chestnut better… so that I may try that latter! So cunning businessman! We just chatted & walked together… heading to 心齋橋. He was very helpful & recommended me to go to Osaka Joo/ castle & checked the weather for me immediately. Suddenly, he asked me if have time for a coffee… ok! Then we went to a McDonald’s-like fast fd shop. He mentioned he enjoyed smoking, & chose a
smoking area… I dunno if my face got sth showed up or what, he asked if I smoked, nope. Then he led me to the non-smoking area, very considerate! Actually, I don’t like smoking, but it’s ok for a short time, <2hr & not frequent… sometimes I’ll hang in pub or karaoke room, lots of smoking there. We chatted for almost an hr for everything… our history, his vision, how he worked, some life-motto....After the precious talk, he said just phoned him if I couldn’t communicate in Japanese, he could give a “helping mouth”. Very nice guy! Then he held up his fist, so I crashed my fist into his, & he acted like it was painful… o… funny!
Already, almost 10pm, almost all shops closed, actually close at 9 sth…2 early for HK-ese! After buying some souvenirs, went back to hostel & wrote sth to my friends & family!
