Met up with Megan, who ive known for some time through irc and talked into meeting me, promising I wasnt weird (lies). Chris came and we met at Kyobashi along the
Osaka loop train line. We travel to kyoto by train (about 45 mins) and visit first Kinkakuji
temple (the golden pavillion)

then Ginkakuji (the silver pavillion), after walking up what is known as the Path of Philosophy a cherry tree (some are still in flower)lined path along a canal up a hill leading to the temple.

My weeks old infra red filter pops out of its holder trying to take IR shots at the Silver pavillion, making it pretty unusable.

Later we go to kyoto train station which is a modern day
temple itself.

Rather large and ugly on the outside, the interior of
the centre is fascinating, with its complex architecture. As we are viewing the food shop below the station an American woman (we tend to stand out) starts talking to us and asks if she can join us for dinner. I want to say no but I am a coward, and spend dinner sulking and avoiding conversation at a corner of the table. She thinks I am jet lagged (Japan is in the same time zone as Perth). I order (ok the woman orders for me) the sushi bento box, and it is awesome, for a meagre price of $9 AUD or something.

After the woman leaves we explore the upper reaches of the train station,
elevators stretch to the upper levels on either side where you can view
the city of kyoto from the roof. A walkway up top allows you to walk
to the other side of the upper station.

A cute temple like hut
covered in lights and purple trees can be found in the northern
section.

About 10 we catch the train back to Osaka to head home.
