Saturday (7/11/10) and Sunday (7/12/10) was more days of work. We had to work a little more this time because there was not as much staff, We basically had a hour lunch break and a half hour break at some point, but otherwise we worked from 11 to 6. Nothing bad happened though which was good. There was a Christmas in July party on Saturday at the pool. It made it supper busy that day because everyone got in free. I guess that there was more people there that day then there was at the 4th of July. They had a tone of decorations all around the pool, free food, and they even had Santa and Mrs. Claus come! Thursday (7/1/10) was safety day for lessons. It went Amazing which felt good for me because I was one of the three that planned the event. It is really nice to get a break because we have access to internet so we can work on things and look up other things. Thursday night was really uneventful. Just kind of a hang out night. We did decide to go to the galley for supper ... read more

Kamakura was amazing!!(6/26/ 2010) It actually made me feel like I was in Japan finally. We took a train from Yokosuka to Kamakura. Then to get to the road that we wanted we took the subway to that road. The road leads us first to a shrine which was really cool; it had a couple of levels to it. We also stopped in a couple of little shops that were around that area. One was a music box museum which was really sweet. Then we walked to the big Buddha. This was where we were going to meet up with all the other Camp Adventure staff that was on mainland Japan. We took a photo of everyone there. We got their quite a bit earlier than everyone else so we got time to look around ... read more

Traveling with the Navy is very different than traveling by your own acord. It has pros ($$MONEY$$) and cons (TO MANY RULES!!) Ultimately, the old Navy motto “Join the Navy and see the world” has proved to be true. Thanks to a gray floating box called the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT my eyes have laid eyes upon The Bahamas, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Dubai, Greece, England, South Africa. I paid the fair with blood, sweat, and tears. Now I’m stationed onboard a new ship: The USS GEORGE WASHINGTON. My home port is Yokosuka Japan and for the next two to three years, I will call this place home. From what I have seen thus far I am happy to do so. Japan is amazing. It must be approach with an open heart and mind. Obviously it can’t be ... read more
