BOY AND COW
Great new restaurant Left Melbourne with still really lovely weather but after a very hectic schedule for the past few weeks with THE WEDDING OF THE YEAR and grand children for a week we were really looking for a break and a month in Bali not doing too much was the ideal getaway. Had booked a Luxury Escape deal to the Sofitel in Nusa Dua for the first nine days and that was so relaxing, we have never stayed here before because we felt it is just too isolated, but isolation was probably the best thing for a complete relax. We had a lovely room at the Sofitel, with loads of different pools close by, and the resort being right on the beach meant we could walk the boardwalk around the edge of all the different resorts and did some fantastic walks in both directions. Fortunately we had breaky and dinner every night included with free flow beer and a bottle of wine each night with dinner so we didn't want for anything really. Hard to believe we did not leave the area of Nusa Dua for the whole 9 days......except venture out for a decent coffee and get some money changed......also included in
our package were two massages.......one in the bale near the beach and the other in their luxury spa within the hotel....sensational experience! Spending our 38th wedding anniversary at the Sofitel was a lovely treat. Had lots of choices for dinner each night with the three different restaurants but after nine days was looking to get back to good old Seminyak and the great food there. Our first hotel in Seminyak was not not much chop so after six days we booked out of it and found this little gem called Amalfi Hotel, they call it a budget hotel but I would definitely rate it more than budget.....sort of a french provincial style.....clean as a whistle.....lovely decor and right in the middle of everything....right next door to the W Hotel, would definitely come back again. The day we moved back to Seminyak the Eighteens from New Zealand also arrived so was great to spend a lot of the next ten days with them and also Mark arrived a week later. Loved having some great dinners and brunches with the Eighteens as we hadn't seen them since December so a great catch up whilst enjoying the heat and sunshine together, lots of

My view from our cabana laughs, bintangs and walks around Seminyak. Restaurants.....we have been to a few old favourites and also a couple of new ones...... old ones being Dahana Japanese, Merah Putih, Tiger Palm, Warung Pantai, Italy Cafe, Taco Beach Shack, Mulia for their great Sunday Brunch, Crate and fairly new ones Chachara a great tapas place, Boy and Cow a fantastic steakhouse, ...not cheap but sensational meat and Pho Hwitta Canggu a sweat little Vietnamese place that our friends who own Sabre Coffee invited us to....it was great! Larry and Ardi are a lovely couple and invited us to their villa for drinks and nibbles before dinner.....another great night had by all. Had a lovely time out at Karma Kandara on the Ungasan cliffs.....a fabulous resort but quite isolated out in the Ulawatu area......and the funicular wasn't working so had to go down 350 steps to the beach...all depths, shapes and sizes...nothing even.....very hard on the old knees and then 350 up again in the afternoon...lovely beach though and very attentive attendants....John had his first and last swim here in the beach. Caught up with cousin Lou, Grahame and Tarkyn...which was great....Graysie makes a mean coffee! Always nice to visit their lovely villa

View from our room which is a few klms out of town at a little place called Nyanyi towards Tanah Lot. Uber is now out in Bali so Grab has taken over....so even though we have a bike for John and I....we do use Grab a bit as it is cheap and good for the three of us when we are going out for a few drinks. Before we know it a month has passed and we are heading home again. We always love our time in Bali.....once it is in your blood you are addicted and have to keep coming back even though the traffic is bad....thats why we say "stay where you want to play" so can walk to most places ...in half an hour of the Amalfi you can get to many places. Will miss our Bintangs on the beach watching the stunning Bali sunsets....catching up with new and old friends and generally just kicking back.
