This is one long over-dued post. However, it was such a fun trip for me and my girlfriend. This had been a trip of many 1st, it took me so long to sort through the photos, feelings and thoughts.
I had planned this trip as my first solo trip overseas. However, one of my gf had wanted to go for a quick get-away, I asked her to join me. I decided to change my plans from a diving trip to a mountain climbing one to accommodate her.
As it was both our maiden trip, I decided to look for land tours. There were alot and we decided to go with the recommendation from one of my other girlfriends -
Bali Excellent Drivers.
As my girlfriend's flight timing is different from mine, our driver, Komang, was still willing to accommodate to all our requests and shuttle us despite the timings.
As my flight landed much earlier, I spend the earlier part of the day exploring our cute hotel POP Harris, as well as the Kuta Legian area - checking out the beach, restaurants and all the other food outlets. Even though, I wasn't much of shopper, I checked out to
see if there are any fun shops or things for me to buy anything for everyone at home.
I simply loved the beach, and how everyone seemed to be having lots of fun at the beach. There were so many people and things going on at the same time. As the tides were low, the surfers have called it a day. Most of the people were just people watching like me. Others were lazing on the beach, flying kites, playing beach volley balls, soccers etc. Even the dogs were enjoying themselves playing catch and chase each others.
As I was craving for ayam penyet, I set off to hunt for cheap and delicious dinner. Unfortunately, as this region is well-known for its tourism, it was difficult to find something cheap. So I settled for something reasonable in terms of Singapore dollars. However, the taste of the chicken was different from those that we get in Singapore - the chicken is slightly more dry and much tougher.
As my gf's flight was delayed, I had more time at hand, and decided to explore the shopping district. As I was not much of a shopper, I got bored rather
quickly, and decided to go over to the airport to wait for my gf instead.
Unfortunately, her flight was delayed further and I found myself wondering about. That was when I noticed alot of people sitting at an open grass patch. My guide explained that they were the different tour agency and drivers waiting for their passengers, and he explained that some were there for almost 3 hours already!
At that moment, I was so grateful to the iPhone app - Changi Airport, that informed me of the delay. I couldn't imagine myself waiting for anyone or anything for 3 hours, I would have died of boredom.
When my dearest gf arrived, we quickly head back to our hotel to rest as we have a super early day tomorrow - as we will be going to climb Mt. Batur. A quick nap and soon we were onto the next adventure in Bali.
