Day 30 - Sufffering with a hangover in the car to Jaipur!
I know what you are saying... I know it! ... But there is always a possibility it's going to happen!
We got up at 6am, on time! Anna had said she's not so good in the morning, but she was great! She put up with me, chattering away to myself! And she came to breakfast smiling, so I guess that means she was fine! The hangovers are not showing too much! It's the lack of sleep that gets to me, but that will be remedied on the six hour journey.
I had the same breakfast as yesterday, keeping it simple with cornflakes, toast & jam, I feel giddy enough, I don't need to encourage that feeling!
We all made it, up and out at eight o'clock ! It's a miracle, but it did happen. My thoughts so far on the group; the group is great. We are four very different females, that interlock very nicely together. A jigsaw puzzle with all the pieces that are needed to make it perfect.
I am so pleased not to me on my own, I would have managed,
but now I don't have to!
We set off to Jaipur in our private car. As we are a small group, travelling around is so much simpler. The guys from the hotel had a struggle getting the cases on, we all piled in. The four of us instantly went to sleep. I woke up at about ten, Anna and Bernie at about 10.30, Lisa slept on a bit longer. Doing that helped the journey go by quicker.
Anu shouted out, look to the left! We looked over, really startled, but good grief, here were hundreds of cows being here's along the roadside. Anu explained that when it is monsoon season, the cows are moved in order for them to find food. I've certainly never seen that many being moved together!
We stopped at Bahror for a break. It's an agricultural area. We all chose to have a drink, not food. I got my first sweet lassi of the trip!
A further three hours to go before reaching Jaipur. To be honest, we all slept on and off the whole journey. So it really wasn't bad.
We arrived at the hotel; The Bissau Palace. It is
huge! It's a very ornate place. Every wall is covered in pairings of scenes from the Maharajahs. The doors to the rooms are huge, chunky ornate solid wood! It is pretty amazing to see!
After arriving, we had a look around, there is a pool, and lots of outside spaces. We all had a snack, then I went to bed for a couple of hours. I need to catch up on my sleep.
I woke up to realise that everyone had been showered and changed, I slept through it! It is now time to meet with Anu for a chat about the Itinary. Di no time for a shower now! We were told when, what and where by Anu before setting off to walk the the spice market.we stopped off to be given a fresh flower garland.
As we moved on through the busy streets of new Jaipur we came to a halt in the road, it was a very colourful religious procession. We were helped up to stand on the rickshaw so that we could see. We saw elephants, camels, musicians, ladies... All sorts, pleased we bumped into it! After the last person passed we sat
in our rickshaws to be taken to a lassi shop. The other girls weren't convinced that they liked it. I had one earlier that they tasted, but it wasn't good really! This one was gorgeous! After the lassi stop we got into tuk tuks to be taken to dinner at Anus house with his parents.
Oh, I do wish I didn't feel this hungover! I was desperate for water! I drank a full bottle straight off! They were lovely to us, the dinner was lovely too. His Dad certainly likes his whiskey! And his Mum was really nice. They both welcomed us into their home. I enjoyed the evening.
We got tuk tuks back to the hotel. An early night for all as we have a busy day tomorrow.
