The next day we woke up before 5am, we were soo looking forward to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Taj Mahal. We met our new friend Dan and were waiting for our taxi together.
Taj Mahal is located in the city Agra. This city is on the banks of the river Yamuna, 363 kilometres west of the city New Delhi. The way took us 4 hours to get there – our driver wasn't as good as promised in the travel agency. But he told us one thing over which we understood the transportation in India. The thing was that to get your driver license, you pass only one exam – written exam. If you succeed you get driver license, whatever if you can really drive or not.... Ahaaa, mystery about terrible really terrible drivers in India was solved!!! 😊
Getting close to the Agra, we could see the Taj Mahal from a distance and even from car seemed impressive. Our driver brought us in front of main gate and we agreed to see him in 2 hours.
After purchasing tickets (of course for foreigners) and a precise control – guys Joost and Dan were checked two times – we could finally enter.
At the first moment we fell in love with it!
The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum, one of the most recognizable structures in the all world. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his 3rd wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is widely considered as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and stands as a symbol of eternal love. Standing there, looking at the beauty, we fully understood everything what was until now said about Taj Mahal. From year 1983 bacame the Taj Mahal a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We spend over 2 hours walking trough and around, taking pictures and enjoying the view. The time went so fast that we had to say goodbye to it... 😞
Visit the Taj Mahal and see by ourself was amazing experience which we will definitely remember all our life.
After some snack in restaurant recommended by our driver (perhaps his family 😊 ) was late and we were on our way back to the New Delhi. Just few kilometres behind city Agra is another ... Even our driver didn't like that we want to stop there (have no idea why...) but we decided to visit this place. At this moment weren't there so many tourist so we could easily walk everywhere. Inside of it was a small dark tomb and amazing wall paintings. We weren't in hurry so we were sitting outside and were wondering how crazy is our driver getting. And after we came back to the car, he was stressed out and in hurry back to New Delhi. It was dark when we got back, but all day was wonderful and we were happy. And of course hungry a lot, so decided to have a dinner together with Dan as soon as possible. Hurry up to change clothes and let's find some food. Guys ordered few beers and we enjoyed the night. Just after Joost came back from toilet and said how bad their kitchen looks like I was getting worried 😞 Until now we didn't have really big problems and didn't get seriously sick.......Until now.
Anyway, the next we were flying to Kathmandu, Nepal. So see you there.
