'Look over there,' said Raju, pointing with his chin in the Indian manner to some indistinct letters and numbers painted on a building. 'Would you believe that the Ganges reached up to there in the monsoon of 1978?' We looked down to the river flowing serenely beside the stone steps of Varanasi’s ghats today, a dizzy, mind-boggling 74 metres (242 feet) below. Ahead and beneath us, left and rig... Sorry about the photos!

World explorers
You've really managed to visit all the nooks and crannies, off the beaten path that India has to offer... along with a couple of mainstream locations. You did find those backstreets and unfamiliar places that some might not write about. Fantastic! I really enjoyed the blog.

India's another world!
Thanks for continuing to share our adventures. We were, as always, on a tight schedule, but in a place like Varanasi it would have been a shame to limit ourselves to just the tourist hotspots. And there's another week's worth of blogs still to come - including a few more places that TravelBloggers don't seem to have written about!

Happy you had a good time
I´m glad you could contact Raju, he really is one of the best people to show you around Varanasi. I wish I could come back to visit him and his family one day. Take care!

Memories!
Thanks again for introducing me to Raju. You must find an excuse to go back to Varanasi some day - you haven't written a blog in a long time! Keep doing it (...smiling that is!).
