Yashodaji and I have been having our share of Jadan moments and adventures. We were walking around searching (stalking) Swamiji and ended up at the OM Ashram. Had a feeling Swamiji was there. We did a bit of the boundary walk and then asked the guard if he knew where Swamiji was. He said in Guruji's Samadhi. So we headed that way. Now that there is a big hole in the wall, from afar you can see the big photograph of Guruji and of course, with all the neon lights around it, it was well lit up.
We were walking in the gorgeous moonlight to the picture, though I could hear Swamiji's voice and knew he was not actually in that direction. We kept walking and finally, he called out from the side "Hey girls! What are you doing?" "Looking for you Swamiji!" “You were fixed?” “No Swamiji, the guard told us you were at Guruji’s Samadhi so we were walking that way, though we could hear you were somewhere else.” We made Pranam and sat down with the small group there in the dirt and shadow of the neem trees. "You are Yashoda". "Yes, Swamiji" (in unison)! From
the shadows you could see the place we had been in the light and ironically could not see from the other direction (could not see into the shadows from the light).
A few minutes later we heard Yogeshji's voice and Swamiji said "Sshhh, be quiet. We will see if he notices where we are". We all held our breaths and no one spoke. Yogeshji came along the same lit path we had and did not notice us. Again Swamiji called out "Yogesh, what are you doing?" "Searching for you Swamiji"! "Then come". So we sat a little longer while Swamiji gave instructions for future developments there and then enjoyed the walk back. Back near Kitchen, a lot of Karma yogis appeared from the shadows to join the procession back to the White House and see Swamiji off into the lift toward his rest.
Then there was the strawberry moment (not the most common Jadan experience). Niranjanji’s “Acha (good/really?!) A real strawberry?!”
The monkey that came into our Ashram was also up there as a talking point. How one monkey could cause such a commotion, can really only be summed up in the words of
Lauraji: "Spiritually evolved humans - zero, Monkey - three" as another failed attempt to catch it was chalked up! There were many people who had their own ideas as to why it came in the first place. I guess you could say this is one of the many moments that are open for interpretation in Jadan. It was a classic moving comedy, complete with monkey roaming the rooftops, being slipped fruit by a Swami from the Library or boys in the hostel, taking a rest on Swamiji's chair on the kitchen veranda and being pursued by a Swami and air rifle! After several days in the hood, he moved on to create mischief somewhere else.
Went up to the top of OM Ashram today with Dhyananandji and took in the view. Its amazing and such an awesome project. First to the top of the big arm of OM and then to the current top of the Surya (Sun) temple. Last time I was there it was two stories lower. Since then, we’ve purchased another higher crane to enable the height increase. It was a gorgeous sunny day and it seemed that even inside the gates of the ever
working OM Ashram, the mood was progressive. People were committed to their concreting projects/stone carving/woodworking and feeling good about being involved.
I’ve started to walk the OM Ashram dogs again. It’s been some months since I did this and it’s very good to be back in that part of the game. The dogs get so excited to be on the open road and it’s another opportunity for me to clear my head. Jadan by bicycle is quite an experience. There is the constant beauty; aloe vera flowers, leaves, crops, hay stack that shifts like sand, workers coming and going, the odd School teacher out for a walk, children playing in the dirt, horses out for exercise, cows being milked and one black shoe beside the path at the back pocket, furtherest, most-least-likely-to-run-into-anyone part of the Ashram.
