Sunset In Alleppey
View of sunset from the houseboat in Alleppy After my wedding on 21/6/04 in India, me and my frens wanted to go go Kerala for our honeymoon, there was a toatl of 5 couples. So we decided to check out the rates on the internet and
keralagreenery website offered a very good rate for the 10 of us. The sales officer proposed a very good honeymoon itnery for us and even created a web link for us. So we made the payment by the net, and the sad part was when i made the payment, the US dollar was high.
The Itnery are as follows:
Day 01 - Trivandrum ( Travancore Heritage - Heritage seaside resort )
Day 02 - Alleppey ( Houseboat cruise with overnight stay )
Day 03 - Alleppey ( lake Palace - luxury backwater resort )
Day 04 - Cochin ( Bolgatty palace - Heritage island resort )
Day 05 - Departure from Cochin
My village koddiakarai is in Tamil Nadu state so we booked the second AC train ticket from trichi train stn to Trivandrum stn. The train was 6123 Ananthapuri Express. we left my village at abt 1700hrs and reached trichi railway stn at abt 2330hrs, it was along journey not
Travancore Heritage
Me and my friends by the poolside at travancore resort helped by some damaged roads in tamil nadu. we boarded the overnight train at abt 2350hrs and it left the station shortly. had a good sleep in the cabin and the view in the morning from the train was gorgeous, it was full of lush coconut trees and mountains we were in trivandrum railway station by 0800hrs and met by a driver from keralagreenary. We were driven in an air conditioned van to our resort travancore heritage. I must say that the roads in kerala were in a better shape than in tamil nadu.
We checked into our rooms and it was a beautifull resort and decide to have lunch at the hotel. the meals were very expensive at the hotel, Each couple spent at least 1500 rupees on the lunch which was a lot. After our lunch we headed for the beach. It was the majestic Arabian Ocean. The waves were very hugh and the current of the ocean was very strong, after that had a friendly beach football with the local kids. As it was getting dark and the sea getting choppy, we went to the resort swimming pool to continue swimming. After that back to room
Indian Venice
Fishing Boats in Cochin to wash up and dinner and turned in.
We checked out at abt 0800hrs in the morning and the driver from keralagreenery picked us up it was a 3hour journey to Alleppey. at Alleppey we were transfered to a houseboat. Each boat can accommodate up to 4 persons. So the 10 of us got into three boats and off we went to the back alleys of Alleppey. The houseboat was very comfortable and consisted of a bedroom and toilet and the best part the toilet had floor and wall tiles. There was 3 crews on board and had fish caught from the river for lunch and given banana chips and coffee throuout the journey. It was a very lush and everywhere we turned it was full of coconut trees and even the river was green in color. There was no television or radio on board. At about 7 in the evening, the boat was anchored in a remote area and the view was simply breathtaking. But the area was full of mosqutoes. Bring some repellent along. We spent the night talking away and turned in for the night. In the morning the boat went back to where we boarded
HouseBoat
This is HouseBoat we stayed in the back waters of Alleppy and the driver picked us up and transfer us to Alleppey town centre where we took a small boat to Lake Palace resort. It was a luxury back water resort. After checking in, we took the boat back to the town centre for some Ayurevdic Massage, We looked around the town and finally a guide brought us to a massage centre, there you can choose a wide range of treatment. We choose oil treatment for about 400 rupees each person. I have never been touched by a man this intimate before in my life, they took about 3 bottles of special oil and massage you all over the body, after the massage, all of us looked very radiant. By this time it was getting dark and we took the boat back to the resort.
After reaching the resort had dinner and turned in early, the massage had asleepy effect on the body. The next day we checked out of resort and the driver drove us to Cochin. The first stop was the jew corner, here you can find the earliest synagoe in India. Here you can find all sorts of artifact shops all around but you have to haggle
Jew Street
Old handicrafts for sale at jew street in Cochin at the price abit. Coochin is also known for its spices and gold and you will find find lots of shops selling these. The boats in cochin looks like those in venice and no wonder they call cochin the venice of the east. Here you can find the ancient chinese fishing nets.
In the evening, the driver dropped us back in ernakulam railway staion for our trip back to trichi, tamil nadu. In a nutshell, Kerala was really a nice place to visit and you really have to try the houseboat, the aurevadic massage, the kathakali dance show.
