With an eerie similarity to our first night in China, we hopped in a taxi cab at the Bangalore Airport with a driver who quickly got lost, was illiterate, and liked to park the car (unlocked) in sketchy areas at 1:30 am and ask random people who by all rights ought to be in bed, for directions. Of course, none of these people were able to help. All the phone numbers we had for the cottage we had... Read Full Entry

India through a keyhole -
What an amazing country, India! Thank you for your superb pictures of all sorts of things. I wonder if you found the country overpowering--it does not really sound like it. I fear I would. So many people, so much poverty, so much life. Thanks for a peek; it whets my appetite for a closer look some day. Looking forward to the next installment of your adventures - Barb

Oh....the adventures!
You guys are amazing....but then we always knew that! I am so thankful that your driver returned your passport! It is a sick feeling when you think you've lost it (speaking from experience).....Given what you have to go through on Canadian soil to get it back or to reapply, it's so fortunate as an ex-pat that someone "paid it forward". As always, I find myself holding my breath as I read your adventures, and then "chuckling along". I'm with you -- the basket boats are scary-looking! Looking forward to the next installment as always. Hugs to Craig, too--take care!

India looks amazing! And I think you're right, I know several people who would suggest spending a great deal of time there. The cities of the world are always so enthralling and sometimes over stimulating; for this reason, I love the countryside.

Bangalore Palace

This palace reminds me of my teenage days. I livied within the palace grounds with my grand father Katari Narayanaswamy. My grandfather was the private secretary to the king. In my hind sight I can still see the King arriving to reside in the palace (His red turban, white attire and sun glasses.) What a majestic personality. Days have changed life goes on. I wish to state that my marriage was held within the compound.
