Yes, I'm still in Bangalore, enjoying a lazy life and good company, however, that is all about to change as I prepare to go it alone in India. I finally pulled my finger out and started planning a rough itinerary, although I've only pin-pointed and booked one destination so far. It's a start. I'll figure the rest out as I'm going along.
In the last few days, I've experienced more amazing food, but also what I'm assuming to be meat withdrawal. For two days I was devoid of all energy and unbelievably sleepy. I wasn't consciously craving meat, but my body clearly was.
On Friday, I chilled at Big Straw (Vidya and Ashish's bubble tea cafe), and sampled various fruit lattes with aloe vera chunks, mango stars (awesome!) and mango bombs. They knock the socks off Korea's bubble teas, I can tell you! Later, Veena, Indu and I went to a local craft market, where I went a little OTT on the accessories buying. Most of you know how extensive my accessory collection is, and given the limited space left in my backpack, I should've known better, but still. In the evening, we went to the cinema and watched
'Lessons in Forgetting'. It was very good and I totally recommend it, but be warned: it's a very dark and depressing film and you won't shake off the harsh reality of it easily.
On Saturday, Indu took me out to buy a kurta (tunic) to wear to the kooth party that evening. I ended up buying three. As you do. I also had my hair trimmed and facial hair threaded (yes, I've reached that undignified age where facial hair starts sprouting and I can't even muster up the shame not to mention it). Then, in the evening, we went to a kooth party. My two left feet and I just kicked back and watched as other clubbers threw shapes on the dance floor. As is usually the case when surrounded by people with rhythm, I questioned why I wasn't blessed with such talent.
Sunday was another chill day, then we headed to Ashish's place for the night. We woke up the next morning and spent a few hours in the pool, which was lovely and relaxing. In the evening, we came back to Benson and ordered Chinese and ice cream. The 'Death by Chocolate' (recommended by Indu!) option
wasn't lying; having eaten it all in one sitting, I actually felt as though I was dying, but it was worth it.
Today, I sat waiting for my onward bus tickets to be delivered, with the intention of heading straight out to Big Straw for my fix of bubble tea, but now I'm vegged out listening to the buzzing and rumbling of passing vehicles, with Freebie (the Benson family cat) purring away on my legs. It'd be a such a shame to disturb her....
