"Baby Cow Corner" on the way to work - there are always lots of young cows grazing on grass and garbage here As Tony Orlando and Dawn sang long ago:
I'm coming home, I've done my time! After much consideration and based on a multitude of factors, I have decided that I can no longer work and live in India. I have resigned from my company and my last day was today. I am very disappointed that things did not go as planned, but after six months of discussions before I accepted the position and signed my contract, in my first three months of work the company, by their own admission, had completed only 0-5%!o(MISSING)f what they promised. There were many critical things about the company, my co-workers, my positon, and life in Gurgaon, that they did not disclose before I came over to India. They have acknowledged that I did not receive all of the information that could have been provided. Additionally, my living and transportation arrangements are not as promised and there have been ongoing issues with each.
It sounds trite, but
"if I knew then what I know now", I never would have signed the contract! I am looking at this as an expensive, but valuable, "life lesson". I have wanted to work abroad for a long

The central plaza of Cyberpark - Kendle's new office is on the ground floor if the building on the right time and I honestly believe that I gave India my best shot. It didn't work out so now it's time for something else.
Although my last day was today, we are still negotiating the terms of my leaving. Given the current situation and the portions of the contract and our verbal agreements that were not kept, there is room to modify portions of my relocation package. They are being somewhat reasonable and I think we will come to at least a semi- satisfactory agreement before I leave the country. I have all of the furniture I bought out for auction to my co-workers and hope to recoup at least half of the costs. I will not receive my final payroll deposit until 31 Oct 2007 so I need to stay here until that is confirmed. Getting paid has actually been another issues here so I can't take the chance of another problem. Only after confirming the deposit will I write a check to the company for the negotiated portion of my relocation package. CP #11
Cyberpark is an IT-based office complex that's part of an economic development area. As they are not an IT-base business, Kendle was able to rent an office only on the ground flor where the retail space is located. My plan now is to travel around India for the next three weeks and see all (or as many as I can) of the places I hoped to visit in the next year. I'm working on the schedule now and meeting with my travel agent tomorrow. I update you once the plan is finalized.
I'll have one week back in Gurgaon to wrap everything up before flying back to the US on 01 Nov 2007. I'm keeping my apartment until 31 Oct 2007 since I had to give one month's notice to get out of the lease. As long as I have somewhere to sleep, I can stay there and it will be cheaper than a hotel. If the bed and the futon both get sold quickly, I may spent my last few days in a hotel.
Here are a few photos of

The "Hallway of Doom" - until this week, the hall to our office was a scary place: dark with hanging wires, construction debris, pipes, and workmen using power tools or sanding then painting the plaster the company's new office and me with some of my co-workers.
