Edit Blog Post

Sorry there hasn't been a blog for a couple of days but it's been a bit of a quiet time for us.

Saturday, our last day in Japan, was a complete washout again with heavy rains limiting what we could get up to. As a result we headed back to the covered shopping arcade in Temma in search of a Hello Kitty umbrella (yes, I am developing an obsession!). We found one but didn't have enough local currency left to buy it and it seemed silly to get more money out when we would be leaving at the crack of dawn the next day. That just about sums up Saturday...

Yesterday we journey over the the second country on our list - Hong Kong. We left the delightfully named Hotel Kinki in Osaka at 7am and arrived in the Hong Kong Budget Hostel in Kowloon at 6pm, a total of 12 hours' travel if you account for going back an hour in time. By the time we arrived, we were both too shattered to do much and so far our only experience of the area has been the HSBC atm and a Seven-Eleven shop around the corner. Not exactly off the beaten track!

First impressions of Hong Kong are that the Tourist Board does a good job of convincing you that the city is all modern skyscrapers and luxury lifestyles. That might be true in certain areas but where we are staying, it's a completely different story. I don't want to dwell on first impressions though - time to get out there and see what the country really has to offer.

Enjoy crazy HongKong - NO DOGS
Hi you both, you wonder why the German relatives do not send any comment;-) Finally I do! That travelblog is s.th. really fantastic - am reading your articles all the time - really interessting seems as if I'd join u live! I'd love to as here nothing really important happens - Munich is only full of football-tourists! Last week I've joined the footballgame between Saudi Arabia and Tunesia - for 20Euro (normally 50 Euro ;-))haha)! Friends of mine bought tickets over the internet for plenty of games - though there actually don't any exist! Clever guys! Wanted to sell my ticket to a rich Saudi-Arabi, however, noone was interessted-we thought to get around 2-300 Euro - they pay on the "black market" (right engl. expression-ups?). Everywhere has been police so too risky as not relly legal isn't it..Hope to improve my English as I often have to translate via phone your blogs for Papa and Franziska! They left this morning for a holiday to Switzerland (Gstaad - famous village high in the mountains). So, have fun in HongKong and rest of China - enjoy yourselves - u do as I can c in your photos!! Don't eat dogs and eggs of...different animals ;-) if u know what I mean! Keep us updated! Miss u both! Esther (p.s. received your message on the answering machine - have to leave my flat during daytimes as heavy noise of house builders and craftsmen - better to call in the evenings :-)). TAKE CARE!
