YEAR IN REVIEW:
Since August 2, 2009 when we embarked on our journey to China until we arrive back in Portland, OR on July 6, 2010 we have flown on 29 flights, traveled to 9 new countries and visited countless new cities. We have grown and changed in so many ways individually, as a couple and in ways we probably don’t even realize. Living in an entirely new culture changes a person and hopefully most of the changes are for the best.

Most Memorable Moments while living abroad for 11 months and 4 days:
-teaching our first class of 55 plus students
-being a celebrity in China for being white
-Elyse eating dog unknowingly
-getting engaged in Hong Kong
-seeing Elyse’s parents in Australia after not seeing anyone we knew for over 5 ½ months
-Pete having gushing blood from his hand after slipping on a glacier in New Zealand
-Elyse almost crying in front of her class that stood to sing her a song during the very last class
-7 yr old kid in Vietnam peeing in a plastic bottle while at dinner table
-Pete being robbed at knife point in Hue, Vietnam
-getting on the plane to fly back to the USA

Our last few days in Hong Kong were spent with Martin & Staci visiting places we had meant to visit all year, eating lots of Indian food, watching movies at ISquare(Eclipse for the ladies and Shrek 3D for the men) and taking in the city/country as we have grown to love it over the year.

It was a surreal feeling when we left Mirador Mansion on Tuesday morning to take the A21 bus to the airport and leave Hong Kong.

During our trip to the USA we will visit Oregon for 2 weeks, Illinois for 2 weeks and California for 3 weeks. Our return trip to China has us leaving from San Fran to Vancouver, BC and onto Shanghai, China. We will begin teaching on September 1st to college students which will either be Oral English or/and Business English. The school hasn’t notified us just yet of what English we will teach, I am sure it will be last minute as that is how the Chinese work.

This is Elyse's point of view as Pete was too tired to get out of the recliner to have any input😊))Love you Babe.
