Howdy all,

Life is tough at here in the East..........the Cantonese is coming along
nicely (3 words counts as fluent right????)

Have done a fair bit of stuff, despite battling jet lag. Went on a night
cruise this evening around Hong Kong. There is a channel that seperates
Hong Kong Island from Kowloon Peninsula (where we are staying)......get
your maps out to check it out.

Also the tram upto 'The Peak' is a must see. Fantastic view over the city and surrounding areas. The angle the tram travels at is a little worrying, but it seems to make it to the top most of the time in 1 piece !

Accomodation : Metropole Hotel - US$67 per night. Beautiful !

We are staying in the Metropole Hotel on Waterloo Road. It is expensive at US$266 for the 4 nights in total, but we decided to treat ourselves as it's our first stop. Hotel location is excellent, definatly recommended if you can afford it !

The city is pretty amazing.....Kowloon is mostly shops and bars etc. HK
Island is the business area but also has bars and stuff in Soho.

Hong Kong features include them
Food !Food !Food !

Me (in blue) buying some local tasty delights.
using bamboo as scafolding (seriously)......and
they have the best subway in the world (forget Paris, London and New York!).

It's pricey, so beer consumption has been a minimum, although I have knocked
back a few Tsang Tso Chinese beers during the 2-4-1 happy hours.

Flying to Bangkok on Saturday afternoon.....no accomodation yet, but sure
nay a bother on that front I reckon.

We went to Aberdeen fishing village via public bus. From there you can get a free boat out to the Jumbo Floating Restaurant. It's huge, and very plush inside which suprised me! We just looked at the menu and it seemed pricey so we gave it a miss.

Another must do is the Star Ferry night cruise at 8pm. You get to watch the light show from it and they have a commentary on board.

Weather is pleasant (25 degrees) but not too hot. No beaches here so the
tan is not progressing. Weight loss is also on hold, as the food is great......yum!
