CHINA WRAP UP

So in 3 weeks we will have
FLOWN 26,000 kms
DRIVEN 1200 kms
WALKED 200 kms
CYCLED 14km and it has been awesome

The two things i was worried about - the food and toilets have been fine. The food has been incredible, and I have mastered the floor loo (although you always keep an eye out for a sit down loo and use it whether you need to or not and don't forget your own paper everywhere you go)

The Chinese people have been very friendly and helpful, everywhere you go you are almost always the only caucasian and you get plenty of looks, some smiles, lots of 'hellos" and the occasional giggle. I haven't been robbed or felt at all in peril (as some people warned me). I would reccomend seeing China with someone who is Chinese - it's the best way to see the real thing.

Talking about the real thing, one of the reasons I wanted to see China was because it is modernising and changing so quick, I wanted to see China before it was gone as we know it now. What I have realised from being here is that the Chinses people are incredibly resiliant and have been undergoing change for thousands of years. and while there are huge things happening here, China is going to be fine. in fact I think it could be entering it's best days.

BEST FOOD - FAMILY STYLE TOFU, HOT POT, BAO ZI, HUI GUO ROU, TUDO, MORES (burger), LIANG PI
BEST BUY - FOOD, ACCOMMODATION
PROS - CHEAP, FRIENDLY, GOOD INFRASTRUCTURE, SAFE, WELL SET UP FOR TOURISM (CHINESE)
- PLENTY TO SEE - HISTORICAL, NATURAL, MODERN, SHOPPING
- NOT TO MANY FOREIGNERS, MANY PRETTY GIRLS
CONS - STOMACH AND PALLETE CAN TAKE A WHILE TO ADJUST
- LANGUAGE BARRIER IS FRUSTRATING
COMPLAINT - CHINESE PEOPLE THROW THEIR RUBBISH ON THE GROUND (my pet peeve)
