People have Tibet travelmust heard Me-tog, the last village of Chinese territory flowed through by the Yarlung Zangbo River before it feeds into India River. Located in the southeastern Tibet, Me-tog is also the most remote village with impassability highway that produces the stone pot.

Because the bad environment and frequent disasters in Yarlung Zangbo River which constitutes the huge barriers and gaps that hardly step over, Me-tog becomes the longly island of plateau, ar away from the modern society, idyllic as Arcadia. What's more, the outside story goes that Me-tog is a land of mystery called "white corner and white horse hill "which means hidden lotus shrine by Buddhists.

Pangxin in Me-tog is the main produce area of stone pot. The locals take the stone from Mt. Namcha Barwa (people travel to Everest Base Camp must know it is the 15th highest mountain in the world)to chisel pot. That so called "black stone" is very special only can be seen in Me-tog. This kind of stone is very valued soapstone with quality of soft material in the world. The barrel-sharped gray stone pot is resistant to high temperature of 2000 centigrade. If you use the stone pot cook food, the food will have more fragrant and delicious soup that taste mellow and the smell lasts longer. It is said that when you often use the stone pot cooking food, it has obvious healthy care for human body especially for hypertension, heart disease, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease patients.

Because of the special climate the quarrying time is limited only in July and August. Quarriers will prepare enough food, water and firewood before enter the mountain. While the stone pots are finished, the locals carry them by yak and horses and soak them in Yarlung Zangbo River about 30 days before use. Tibetans like cooking by the stone pot since ancient times. Now the stone pot ever used by Sontzen gampo is still kept in the Potala Palace that the living Buddha and aristocracy have their private stone pot in history. When you have your China Tibet travel, please keep an eye on the Me-tog stone pot, maybe you will find something interesting.
