I love people watching...it was so relaxing to just kick back and look out the window to all this. This morning many of my classmates woke up early to go to the panda research center. I did plan on waking up for this as well since pandas are sooo cute and cuddly looking but Brett didn’t bang on the door loud enough to wake me and Fei up! There are two reasons this problem has arisen and I refuse to take the blame for either:
1. Last night Fei literally flushed her phone down the toilet so it’s gone
2. We are in a dormitory and they don’t have hotel amenities or a clock in the room.
I think this is a sign that I need to invest in an alarm clock…nah! So since we slept in we decided to go over to the Jinkai International Fashion Market to get some brunch. This market was so huge that I felt like I was in New York; except the buildings were shorter and it was a bit more open and clean. I had so much fun walking around and looking at all the little shops. Fei and I finally settled on Japanese food on the 7th floor of this huge department store where we indulged on familiar eel,

we had to take a picture! sashimi and of course my favorite soup in the world, miso!
Afterwards we decided that it was okay to sleep through the pandas but not our trip out tomorrow…wherever that maybe…so we went to buy Fei a new cell phone. We walked through this dress shop to the back and walked up these stairs that opened up to this huge cell phone store with about 100 different phones to choose from! I never realized how easy it was to get a cell phone in China; you pick the phone you want, the phone number, and then walk out and they never even record your name! It’s almost scary how easy it is to have an unknown number.
We then decided to stick around the main square for a little while so we went to Haagen-Dazs for coffee. This was not the type of Haagen-Dazs I’d ever seen in America. It was literarily a coffee shop (and ice cream) where the waitresses had little French hats on and the music was coffee house style in English! It was so relaxing as we sat by the window talking and watching the people outside. I never get the time to just
relax at home and not think about the millions of things I need to do and for once I did. I can’t even think of a day or period of time that I was just able to enjoy a cup of coffee and just look out at the rest of the busy world around me.
Like every precious moment, it had to end and we went back to the dormitory. I ran into Bret and Rob on the way and Bret wanted to check his mail (since someone accidentally knocked their beer all over his computer while drunk a week ago, poor guy) and watch Borat so I made him a deal. I was thirsty and he wanted to use the computer so I sent him to get drinks while I did laundry (in the sink!) and we kicked back and watched Borat till Kyle came to recruit Bret for a game of basketball. I finished the movie with the other girls and then went on a hunt for a phone call to call home since I haven’t called home yet. Even though it was 6am for her and I only had 3 min to talk it was great

We were excited it said Phoenix City to talk to my mom briefly. I guess as much as I love traveling, I miss home just as much. It balances.
So tonight we went to dinner and then to a club called Bobi II which was a lot of fun. I ended up leaving early with Missy, Phil and Mike and we gave the cabbie our card that says where we were staying and he brought us to the wrong campus! We walked around for a good half hour before realizing it and that was while asking many of the students where we were going. We finally found some students who got us a cab and got us home, thankfully!
Now that I’m back in my dorm I’m ready to get some sleep since I need to be downstairs at 8am, hopefully I’ll make tomorrow, night!
