Sunday

It was a 'gardens and canals' day today, and once again began with a relatively leisurely start - we think our excellent guide, Michelle, is going soft on us as we near the end of the holiday!!

For starters we visited the 'Garden of the Master of Nets' - a small Chinese garden that seemed to have more artists than tourists. Very restful!! As Suzhou is termed the 'Venice of China', it was no surprise that we did an hour's ride on a loudly painted narrow-boat - passing was fun at times. Post-lunch, we visited the 'Humble Administrator's Garden' - there was nothing humble about this garden and could best be described as tres, tres large!!

Monday

Before heading off for Shanghai, we popped into a Silk Factory - we suspect that some of these visits are prescribed. All was not doom and gloom - the coffee was excellent, Kate enjoyed stretching some duvet silk and do you know what silk worm pooh is used for?
