Anyone from Taiwan must visit the Sun Yat Sun Memorial in Nanjing. We've been reciting his name since kindergarden! Its good to finally see where he gained popularity.
One of our close family friends have moved to Nanjing for work, so during the winter of 2002, we decided to stop by. It was nice to see them again, and I think they were glad to see us as it can be a bit lonely when you have just moved to a new part of the world completely different from what you've been used to for the past 20 years. As the title of this entry suggest though, its damn cold there during the winter time. Forget about what I said regarding to Shanghai in the winter time. Shanghai is like a tropical island in the winter compared to Nanjing... -7 degrees celius was the average there, and in the morning and evening with wind chill I swear its liek 15 degrees below.
Having said that, I enjoyed Nanjing, its not as grand as Shanghai but its friendlier... you know, the people of Shanghai are a bit extra hardened, like New Yorkers, yet if you drive to any other large city in the US, Boston or Chicago, people are a bit more relaxed and easy going. It must be the large financial industries there that stresses people out.
