Last week the lesson topic was Heroes. We discussed what a hero is, who our heroes are, and why. We then talked about what heroes do, whether the students were heroes, and, of course, would they like to be heroes. One idea that came up a lot was that heroes save the world or help people. Anticipating this, I asked them to list some of the ways they could save the world.

These are some of my favorite suggestions:

Give money to children so they can go to school.

Build a machine to cure all diseases.

Don't birth too many baby.

Keep pigs.

Make the world peace.

Teach people to be heroes (will let people to have more confidence).

Kill all the bad guys all over the world.

Smile to everyone and believe in each other.

Everyone have love.

Do something nice every day.

Make good example

Live in family with others

More smile

Universal the law knowledge, make people know and observe it, and reduce crime

Reduce the factory put the foul water in the river

Pay close attention to civil problems

Brave to fight with the bad people

Put ourself out of the way to do something

Don't know more girls.

Don't make more money.

I then asked my students to talk in their groups about which ideas listed on the chalkboard were most important, most difficult, and easiest. And of course, they had to be able to tell me why.

World peace was at the top of the list for most important and most difficult, followed by reducing pollution. In both cases, students explained that not only did both involve everyone on the planet, but also governments and countries, which are harder to control. They explained that since countries and governments want to make money, and making money often causes war and/or pollution, all were connected and difficult, but would yield the biggest benefits.

Smile at people and do something nice every day were considered most easy. Oddly, keeping pigs was both most difficult and easiest.
