Guangzhou tradition during the Chinese new year
Hi there!

The last few months have been good, and busy. I'm still enjoying life in Guangzhou and my tolerance for the cultural differences here in China keeps growing. At the same time it also feels like I'll never be able to completely adjust... But there are so many good things; like the way Chinese friends and family look after each other, the way dinners and activities are so casual and non complicated, not to mention yummy dumplings; that I will miss a lot when leaving!

The coldest winter in 50 years is long gone and temperatures are now reaching 25! Still smoggy of course, but warm. 😊 I celebrated the Chinese New Year with dinner and flower market visit, with Jennie and her family. Vanessa came down from Beijing in the very beginning of the year of the rat, when most people were still on holiday. We had a cold but lovely week together. Spent most days in Guangzhou; seeing friends, touring the city, watching movies, catching up! Went to Hong Kong and Macau for two days which was great.

A week after Vane's visit, I went home for two weeks - which was wonderful!! Did the

regular Sweden route 😊 Halmstad, Gothenburg and Stockholm; this time no Jonkoping. Seing friends and family as well as working a few days. Going back to China again felt good this time (last summer it was with very mixed feelings I boarded the flight back to GZ). Just after getting back, Carolin came to visit for a few days! We attended a friend's wedding, strolled around town and also did Hong Kong together. Great days!

After so many trips and visitors it was time to catch up on work! 😊 Jennie and I got back into our routines; with office work and factory visits as well as studying Swedish and Chinese two mornings per week. My dad and his girlfriend Marie visited, which was nice! We had some intense working days together, but also some time for dinners and river cruise.

Lately, I've also spent time with friends here; meeting up for dinners and coffees with Carmen and Kasia, having lunches with Helen, Claire and the other girls from the PR-firm, "climbing" mountains with Jennie, Christine, Selena, Tracy and Julia, going to Hong Kong for a weekend with Sofia and her friends, celebrating birthdays and friends getting married..!

in the new year!

In two weeks my dad is back in town, thereafter Jennie and I are going to Pheonix City for a few days. In the beginning of June my brother Anton is coming to Guangzhou, to go travelling with me for two weeks! We haven't set the trip completely yet, but are planning to go to Beijing as well as Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. In the end of June, Jennie and I will be going to Sweden together, her staying for 10 days!

Big hugs!!!
Emma
