Never sure what to expect here in china. But I have come to understand when I see a stage....I know things are going to be big, very big. Whether its the opening ceremonies of my school's Sport's Day or the mini-american idol outside of the local Rainbow grocery store...it's always loud, full of decoration, costumes, and if at night, lights. Friday's Travel and Tourism Opening Ceremonies in Guangzhou did not disappoint. It was music was louder, the fireworks were grander, the costumes were more elaborate, the speeches were longer, and the line-up was more impressive. I still don't really understand the purpose of a Travel and Tourism Festival, but I did completely understand a day off of school, a free bus ride to Guangzhou, a free dinner, and paid admission to the opening ceremonies. It could have been the Dog and Cat Festival for all I understood....as long as it was free and meant no school, I would sign up.

The big excitement at dinner was there were dinner rolls....we were salivating...and butter...we almost fainted and but not before trying to scheme how to steal rolls from other slower tables. The big excitement on the way up was that we

Police escort

I'm not sure if someone important was on one of the other buses, but regardless we had a police escort out of shenzhen, and the ramps were closed to oncoming traffic as we passed
all received the most ridiculous orange hats that had a bill so long you couldn't see the other person you were talking to. The big excitement of the before the opening ceremonies began were the gift bags that unfortunately did not include "Oprah's Favorite Things", but a light sword and blow-up toy keep the kiddies content through the ever long-winded speeches. The big excitement during the ceremonies was supposed to be Jackie Chan singing a song, but I thought his performance was pale in comparison to the fire guys, flying girls, and basically all they other ornate and amazing performances that no one understand but couldn't help from saying, "Oh my god!"
