Today we had an early flight to Beijing through Eastern China Airways. As soon as we got out of the plain I felt the humid weather and it was very foggy due to the humidity. Beijing has 5 rings of interstates around it so we went from the fifth to the second, where our hotel is. We relaxed for a little while in the hotel and then Jie and I set off for the Beijing Zoo to see Pandas! We took a taxi into downtown and found the Zoo, paid for tickets, and ran inside to find pandas. They had a huge part of the zoo dedicated to pandas and the different kinds. Haha, they had olympic games pandas, asian games pandas, and baby pandas. Overall we saw 7 of them. The first two were behind glass and we couldn't get a good look at either of them. Then we noticed there were even more in outside exhibits, originally we didn't know how many they had. Then we saw the one up in the tree and got some great photos. I got a great video of the one climbing down out of the tree. It took him 45 seconds to completely
climb down. When we thought we were finally done we found the baby panda exhibit of three pandas! Next we decided to see lions and tigers, so we walked by some other smaller animals and looked in as we made our way to the tiger and lion exhibit. The lions and tigers were in a big building in cages and most of them were being fed so I got a lot of pictures of hungry lions eating raw meat. They had a panther, 2 white tigers, a bobcat, a siberian tiger, 2 african lions, and a leopard. Then in the outside exhibit there was another panther and another tiger. Next we went to the african elephant exhibit and he was walking around outside enjoying himself. Next we went to the aquarium, even though we had just been to one in Nanjing, because we wanted to see dolphins. But we found out there was an addition fee for that so we decided not to. So we walked around a bit more just looking around and ended up seeing monkeys, crocodiles, zebras, horses, hippos, and then we saw the maddest rhino ever! He was ramming his head against a metal fence over
and over and his trainer was trying to get him to come inside. Then he started stampeding around the enclosure and he had hit himself in the head so he was bleeding 😞 finally he gave in and went inside. We walked by the giraffes on the way out and then caught a taxi to go back to the hotel. We just had dinner a few blocks away and now I'm really tired because I ate a lot. Overall I like Beijing so far except for the fog, but it should go away since it's weather related, not pollution. There are so many people and you can feel how big the city really is. We still have at least 5 days left in Beijing so I'll get to see a lot more of the city by the time we leave.
