Great Wall of China

Friday night we spent the evening in houhai with gin and tonics and margaritas on the banks of the lake and facing a street with huge screens showing the world cup and beijingers sitting on sofas outside yelling at the football. Major mission on saturday to move us and our stupidly big bags to a hotel in tiannamen square. People on our tour are really lovely - a couple from Denmark now living in Australia and two mad australian girls, Noelle and Cindy!

Yesterday was incredible - three hours walking on the great wall. Hard to find words to describe it so have attached some photos. Was really special. It was boiling hot up there and charlotte was near passing out at one stage!!

This morning an early visit to the forbidden city - we are all maxed out on chinese pagoda roofs but it was beautiful and the world the emperors created for themselves was quite incredible.

off on an overnight train tonight to xian (the old capital)....dreading the loos and hywel snoring in a six berth cabin!!!
