Entrance to our hostel in Simatri where we climbed the "GREAT WALL"... leaving at 5:00 in the morning.

Awesome ... in the truest sense of the word. They say the WALL is the only man made struture that can be seen from space!! Truly amazing!!!

Sponge writing

People gather around to watch as a man does Chinese calligraphy, with water, no ink! Mesmerizing to watch the delicate figures evaporate into the warm and humid early morning air.

Sidewalk graffiti !!!

Using an adjustable aluminum rod, with a cone shaped sponge attached to the end, water becomes the medium of expression for this elderly Chinese man.

Side street laundry rack

Fruits strung on wooden skewers then dipped in boiling sugar -HOT - are sold on many Beijing streets.
