No flying pigeon, Brian :( Giant! Dodging everything in a hutong while looking for food - tricky!
Hi all,

Horking is an acquired skill that Dean and I hope to master by the end of our stay - just to fit in 😊 We have had plenty of demos; mostly from old ladies. Although our surly cab driver showed us a thing or two on our way to Huanghan to see the Great Wall.
It was an awesome site! We hiked and sometimes scrambled up and down steep slopes, which in certain sections were quite sketchy.

Yesterday, we rented bikes and zipped through the mazes of hutongs up to the Forbidden City. What an beautiful place! Dean took at least 1000 photos!

Finding food has been tricky (bad for Cath!) because every menu and every sign is written in Chinese! Our lonely planet book has a few helful phrases and hand gestures and pictures help too. This evening we feasted on mystery chicken and peking duck - yummy!

We will keep trying this exercise thing, but it's difficult because of the toxic atmosphere in the city. Everyone seems to smoke at least 5 packs a day and the vehicles would fail their air care test miserably!
Tomorrow, it's back on the bikes. Hopefully they will have better brakes this time. We'll visit some more hutongs and the temple of Heaven.

Miss you all! We fly to Katmandhu on Friday morning via Delhi.

Dean and Cath.

Horking
Did I forget to mention the horking when we chatted? My bad! As for the food, I found the easiest thing to do was look at what other people are eating and if you see something that looks good, just point to their plate. Everything will be in English in Kathmandu. Love the photos. Have a great time! Celia
