Hi again all...
Well spent the night with some new friends... Thats whats great about traveling, no matter what you can meet people any where... Im now traveling with two girls from Sweden lisa and Ellen... we left Sihanoukville and headed to Phnom Penh on the on a 12 noon bus.. the bus ride was not the greatest.... 4hrs of crap roads and the driver hocking all the time... but we made it in one piece and thats what matters... But like at the ferry the touts just gathered around us and we were not in the mood.... We found a Tuk Tuk driver to take us to the guest house we wanted to go to at least that was what we thought... but he actual droped us to another place and we had to walk about 2 blocks... The place was not great but it was $4 US... The mosquito net in my room had a few holes in it... But the worst was yet to come.... we went out to have dinner and one of the girls wanted to have a Pina Colata...Bad mistake because now she is sick really bad... But after dinner we headed back to
go to sleep and there was a party all night and I didn't get any sleep at all... Plus it was so hot and the fan in my room wasn't much help... They promised me that the next night was going to be different.... so because Ellen was sick lisa and I went with a Tuk Tuk driver to see the Russian Market and the National Museum.... The Market was Ok and the Museum didn't have a lot of stff in it.... so it was a bit of a short trip... we went back to see how Ellen was feelling and was waiting for friends to show up... When they finally showed up we all went back to the market but as sooon as we got there Ellen got sick again and she had to return back.... Poor girl..... So we all looked around for about an hour and half back to the guest house yo play some chwess and figure out what we wanted to eat for dinner... so we basically had dinner and just chilled out for the rest of the night....
We all woke up eariy the next day because we wanted to see the killing fields
and go to an orphanage... So after breakfast we went to get a 50 kilo bag of rice for $25 US and another $50US of toys and coloring books, pens and crayons.... It was amazing that the story keepers weren't giving us a better deal since we were buying alot of stuff and that it was helping Cambodian children... The Killing fields was not what I was expecting. Maybe because Ive been to Dohaou in Germany and found my self quite upset at what I saw... Not saying that this was not upseting.... You could see the shallow graves and the clothing and skulls that the had on display.... But the rest of the day was going to be for the children.... We arrived at the Orphanage and all the children started run over to us... the ages there where from 9 months to 16 years old... the first thing that they asked was "whats your name and how old are you?"... I start tearing up right now just to think about all of them... We gave the director all the stuff we brought and then he just gave it all to the kids.. There was a bit of mayhem
but it all worked out... You could just see the happiness that we brought to all of them... One boy in particular has a hole in his heart and may never be able to get to live his life...The director showed us around and we could see that they need help... The kids there learn English and also Japanese which I thought was amazing... We all just hung out with the kids as they all played and asked about us... There was a sweet little girl that saw that I had hair on my arms and that she didn't and she even tuged on the hair on my bottom lip...lol Now comes something that I want to ask all and especially to the travelers that come to Cambodia... I challenge all to visit a place like this.... Spend a day and spend $25 on a bag of rice and on some fruit too.... We come here to there country because its a cheap place to travel and I beleive that we can make a bit of a sacrifice and Help.... I also want to say that don't just stay in the city, There are more places that are outside of
the city that need more help then the ones inside the city...I hope that you all will take this challenge and HELP....
We left the next day to Seim Reap which is a 6hr bus ride ($4us) The ride was not as bumpy as I would of thought... And the driver didn't use his horn as much too... Met up with a french Canadian and a girl from Japan on the bus... We all decided that we would all get a hotel room together.... But as before when we got to the bus depot all the touts were bothering us... and the Swedes were getting so tired of this.... The funny thing of all this was that one guy had my name on a big piece of paper waving it in the air... Later we found out that the place we stayed at before had called ahead to say that we on our way up here and told them what bus we were on... another scam...lol... But we got a nice place to spend our time here and to see Anchor Wat...
I hope all of you are having a good time with my blog and that you enjoy the Pics too... And remember, If you come to Cambodia please spend some time with the children. "THEY ARE OUR FUTURE"
