At long last my dreams of visiting Angkor Wat became a reality. We headed off and collected our passes just outside Siam Reap. The temples were built in the eleventh century and the carving on the stonework is beautiful and incredible that it has remained almost untouched for all this time.

The Khmer removed some of the statues during various wars and some of the Buddhas have been placed in a Museum for safe keeping. It's difficult to describe the intricate work on every pillar and post but it really is beautiful.

The weather was quite humid and the sun shone most of the day. In total we visited four temples. In the second temple we managed to lose one of our party who later turned up at the hotel we are staying at. It was quite busy later in the day not only with tourists but it was a day off for many Cambodians as is was a festival day.

I think it's easier to post the photos of this place as its pretty hard to describe.
