Sorry i haven’t been on here in ages...I’ve had even more problems with the pictures and wanted to wait until i could get the pics on here before i wrote. Now that I can though they’ve blocked us from uploading photos at the guesthouse incase they get viruses which is very annoying because it’s the only reason most people got an internet card. So i can write on here from the guesthouse but I’ll have to either trek to an internet cafe or borrow someone’s laptop. I wish I’d bought mine with me really; it would have been so much easier.
It’s been a pretty hectic week really, 3 more volunteers turned up at Anjali so there were 7 of us all week. Clinton, Anita and their daughter Laura. They didn’t come through Globalteer though so they weren’t staying at the guesthouse and it was also a lot cheaper. If I do ever make it back here then I’m definitely doing it independently. 7 of us meant that there wasn’t always a lot for us to do but it did make it quite handy for the workshops. It meant we could split the kids up in to smaller groups so
we did so at every opportunity! I noticed last week that a lot of them didn’t know their left and right so one morning we pretended we were soldiers and did some marching all around Anjali chanting “left, right, left, right!” They had great fun and I’m pretty sure it worked. At one point it reminded me of the Monty Python sketch with the silly walking, you would have loved it dad!
We also did a photography afternoon where Fran and Vicki got some disposable cameras and the kids went round Anjali in small groups taking random photos. They took some really good ones which I’m going to try and get a copy of and on their last day Fran and Vicki made like a big poster with some of the photos on as a Thank you. It was Jess’ last day on Friday and Laura’s on Thursday so everyone seems to be leaving at the moment. There are still plenty of people here but everyone I started with has disappeared. It’s still awesome though because it means I’m making even more friends from all over the world.
A random interesting fact for you... In Cambodia, when you’re born
An awesome game
Very simple and great cause it doesnt involve my flip flops! you’re automatically 1 year old already. So technically I’m 22 here. So when we’re talking about the ages of the kids they’re always 4 but 3 etc.
Yesterday was amazing...5 of us went quad biking through the countryside for 2 hours. It was nice to see the real Siem Reap and not just the touristy parts. We didn’t get a chance to stop much for photos but we did all get one on the bikes by the paddy fields. We stopped at Anjali too cause the course went right next to it and a few of the kids came out to laugh at us in our helmets. I introduced them all to the little girl I’m sneaking home in my suitcase (Srey Phai) and they all fell in love with her too! I would so adopt her if I could! Because I don’t have a driving license I had to have someone on the back of my bike as apparently my reactions would be rubbish according to the French guy who ran it. I was a pro though obviously and at one point when I went full throttle over a massive hole in the road the guy behind me
just said “WOW”. He did get a bit annoying at points though because he was making me go round the puddles and he didn’t want the bike to get too dirty. It was still worth the $24 though and I would definitely do it again! There was one really funny point when we were all going super speedy down a dusty road. A massive lorry was getting too close and throwing up loads of dust so the French guy pulled us all over including the lorry and started having a go at him. The lorry guy then leant out holding a crow bar and was threatening him. We really didn’t help the situation cause we were all sitting on out bikes laughing and the Khmer guy with us had to calm the lorry driver down and send him on his way after shutting his door for him.
We all had pizza on the roof last night...no happy pizza this time though. $26 for 6 pizzas is so cheap! I LOVE THIS PLACE!
We missioned it to the new supermarket today and I had to use my card because I forgot to take my money so you might get a phone

hello again k8, i have been so busy over the hols and now back at work that i haven't had time to check what u been up to. But once i'd said hi i decided to go to the start and have a read through.Wow you are having a gr8 time. Will suggest 'Happy Pizza' for a top table treat do you think? The kids look fab in the pics and i'm sure they absolutely love you. What a breath of fresh air you are bringing into their lives. Although i'm sure you can think of more exciting games than Twister, think back to our game of the week pack and i want to see pics of a good ole fashioned 'Duck duck Goose' going on ha ha .I'm thinking a parachute would go down well, if they don't have one i think you should suggest Langney sends them one. I will be the first to donate some cash to go towards the cost, what do you think?? Quad biking, bars, drugs ( of course you didn't) beggars, people watching ( Correct: i had to lay horizontal at thought of rooftop antics) tuk tuks, temples and lots of new friends, your life is full and exciting just as it should be. Continue to have a ball and give those kids the full K8 experience. i am so jealous and wish i was with you. Do take care though ( sorry can't help myself) don't fall of any roofs or quad bikes and look after your possessions well. Will check on u again soon. bye for now . love wendy
