Making floating candles for the candle ceremony on the river during Bon Om Touk Wow, I can't believe I have been here for a month already! I had planned to write a blog every week, but somehow that didn't happen, so maybe I should aim for once a month!! There have been a lot of changes at the school in the month since I arrived. We were already short one teacher when I arrived, now two more have moved on to other opportunities. ABCs is a stepping stone for new teachers, so it when they move on it is because they are moving up, which is great for them, but at the same time leaves the school in a bit of an awkward position. We have been able to hire one new teacher who started last week. I have spent most of this week in his classroom helping him to get to know the kids and the routine and how to utilize the volunteers to the best advantage of the children.
Our wonderful office manager has also moved on. He had applied to do a degree in teaching and wants to teach high school. In order to qualify to take the course, he along with 220 others had to write an exam to see
who would get the 5 available positions, and fortunately for him, he was able to win one of the seats. It is so wonderful for him, and we are all so proud of him, but he will be missed very much.
Life has settled into a routine here, so not much to report. I will be going to Kulan mountain on M
