In 2006 the National Labor Committee reported that about 200 or so 11 year old were found sewing cloths for one of the biggest American retailers: Walmart. The conditions of the sweatshop were terrible. The children were beaten if they slowed down in productions, they had to work 18 hour shifts, some of the children slept for a few hours on the floor so as soon as they wake up they can start another 18 hour shift, and they could not use the bathroom very often- which were very dirty and and no sanitary products. You would think that a major corporation such as Walmart would at least pay their workers a living wage, but they do not. They pay the children a mere 6 and a half cents an hour. At the very least, Walmart can give there workers 36 cents an hour, and that can help their workers ascend into poverty and have better living conditions or they can move their company to a developed county and make their products.
