As we did at the beginning of our trip to Wildlife Camp, we used Morphy Budget Travel and Safaris to get back to Llongwe. Morphy makes the arrangement to have someone pick us up at Wildlife Camp and drive us to the border between Zambia and Malawi. The driver will help us get our luggage across to the driver waiting on the other side.

Cheeky Monkeys, A New Hostel in Chipata !!!

Mophy's
driver picked us up at Wildlife Camp and we got to Chipata and we went
to Morphy's new business, Cheeky Monkey Backpackers. He has bought an
old home and has converted it to a backpackers. He has room for
camping, rooms for sleeping and a shared kitchen.

Mophy has
activities planned to be available to travelers who stay at the hostel.
There are very few
budget options in Chipata, so some travelers will be
glad to see this. Make reservations at the website ,

His place is located just a
couple of blocks from the grocery store and one of the open air markets
in Chipata which is very convenient for backpackers without a car. He
showed us around the place and then we hopped into his van and he took
us to the border where we said our goodbyes and Bizwick carried us on to
Mabuya Camp in Llongwe where we were going to do our final packing
before we left for Venice.

From there we went on to the border. The ride is quite hilly and scenic. Mophy pointed out one hill that looked like some we had seen in China. He said the top had fallen off and no one knew why. Told him that would be a great day hike tour for guests who mainly don't get much exercise when they are on safari.

On the Border
The Zambia/Malawi is one of those relaxed fluid borders for people that are not traveling by
personal car. People traveling by personal vehicle have to go through MUCH more
procedures before can go through the
border gate.

Back to Mabuya Camp to repack for stopovers in Europe.
