Serengeti National Park And Ngorongoro Crater

The Serengeti national Park is located North-west of Tanzania and covers 30,000 km. The park is significantly larger and flatter than the Mara and the wide plains provide a worldy recognised image of Africa. Similar to the Mara the Seregenti provides plenty of opportunity for game watching where the animals are visible in greater numbers.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world largest unbroken unflooded caldera. The Crater formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself 2-3 million years ago and is 610m deep and covers 260 km². Again the animals are visible in abundance but unlike the Serengeti as the crater has very steep sides the animals don’t migrate as they are unable to leave.

Outside all the parks the grassland is very short due to over grazing and it highlights that tourism goes along way to protect the environment and the animals that inhabit them.
