Day 4 of the Safari For Souls Campaign, Moshi Tanzania 2008
231 Children attended The 3rd day of our Children's Bible School
George preached the outdoor campaign
and numerous Bible studies were held all across the Soweto area
YES 231 children! Wow what a day!
Any guesses on how many we'll have tomorrow the final day of Children's Bible Class for the week, before regular Bible Class on Sunday morning???
Day 1 there were 93 children
Day 2 there were 174 children
Day 3 there were 231 children
Day 4.....???? Who knows!
This morning Cy & Stephanie Stafford joined us from Arusha along with Fred & Penny Cabler, Robert Russell, and the translators they brought our way. We also still have our 5 KW girls: Brittany, Leslie, Sara, Sarah, & Jana here along with Ken Upchurch, Callie and Lydia and Todd Gee has been down for the week helping out! Working together with the Jensens and Richardsons. So we have a great team in place! Today was Callie & Lindsey's Day in the kitchen, so I was released from my duties and handed the axe and frying pots over to the younger girls! We are all starting to
feel the weariness of a long week's work, but with a joy in knowing that all of this is done to bring honor and Glory to our Lord above! We've been busy Sowing the seeds of the kingdom!
"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14
Ekra, you remember the young man with the scales, that weighs people for a living, showed up at the building today to have a second Bible study, which made my heart sore! Fred actually got to sit down and study with him and another young lady this time up on the roof top of the church building.
Christopher and Julia actually made a special lunch today for all of the visitors in their home (they live just above where the church worships in the same building) So the honored guests added to their Beans and Rice a great treat of Julia's fried chicken and freshly rolled Chipati! It is a blessing for them to be able to feed our special guests in their own home when they are here working with us.
Let the little children come
unto me.......
OH how they did come! 231 of them total today for Bible Class! Off the streets, arriving over an hour early, everyone trying to make sure they got a seat for Bible Class and boy were we ever packed in there! Brent decided to stay behind with us and be the man power behind the gates as they arrived and departed it gets a little crazy moving that many children anywhere, especially when they are on their own once they hit the gates and all begin walking home, or hanging around the building just to see if anything else might possible go on and none of them want to miss a thing! We called in a few more reinforcements today with Joy coming over from the preaching grounds to help wrangle the kids. The KW girls are doing a remarkable job at teaching the Bible and sharing God's word with children who may have never heard the bible read before in their little lives. We have children of all different backgrounds coming to Bible Class: predominently Islamic, Catholic, Lutheran, & Pentecostal backgrounds in the area.
Its so fun to watch from afar as the day goes
on... I would love to be a fly on the wall in each class, but I shuffle around from class to class to make sure all the kids are behaving and the teachers have everything they need. Then Penny, Callie, Brent, Emily & I get the drink cups full and the cookies all laid out on the trays... and head up and down the stairs to deliver them to the children!
Its been another long but wonderful day here in Moshi, so I will cut it short for now and let the pictures speak for themselves as they always do! Thank you for your sweet emails and comments, they continue to be a constant source of encouragment to us all!
"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you." Philippians 1:3
May the Lord Bless you and Keep you!
In His service,
Julie Richardson
