George and Luke at the Border
Patiently waiting while paperwork is being processed The last week and a half has been a flurry of activity. Tuesday, the 30th, John Baker took Elly, George and Luke to the border of Tanzania and Kenya to start the paperwork that was necessary for the release of our container. Wednesday morning they returned to the border to finish the process, which literally took all day. The actual inspection was done rather quickly, but then there was a long wait while the border officials took an afternoon break. Finally, the container was released to go, and wouldn’t you know it, the hired driver was not around. He had been told to drive another truck to Arusha, and then come back for our truck. So, Elly decided to drive the truck to Moshi himself. It was a long, slow process, slowed down even further right before reaching our home, by policemen who stopped the truck. Apparently, trucks of this size are not allowed on the paved road near our home. After that was ironed out, the truck finally pulled in about 8:30. Lindsey and I had gone out to supper with the Richardsons after Bible study, and when we got home, George, Luke, John, and Elly had just returned,

Getting the huge semi into our drive was difficult enough, but there was a torrent of rain coming down at the time, which made matters worse. The guys hadn’t had a decent meal all day, so I fixed a quick supper for them. John and Elly then headed back to Arusha, and the rest of us started to work. Elly had spoken with the original truck driver by phone, and he came straight to our place. George and Luke, along with a couple of helpers, unloaded till 3:00 am. Lindsey and I intercepted much of it at the door, and brought it on into the house. We were absolutely exhausted by the time we decided to stop, but how happy we were to see our stuff!! We were back at it again by 7:30 Thursday morning, and finished unloading the container by noon. Brent Richardson came over for a little while, to help move some of the bigger items.
Thursday evening we went to the Richardson’s, where we enjoyed our weekly devotional and supper together. This particular week was special, in that a group of eight from the Northport church of Christ was present, also. They

Luke spent many long hours helping George unload the container. arrived the previous night, and will be helping with the campaign in Arusha. Before they arrived, they spent much time and effort preparing materials for the VBS efforts that will take place in Arusha and Moshi this month. When we returned home a little after 10:00 pm, we expected the truck to begin, but much to our dismay, it was still sitting in our drive. The driver was not able to back it out of the drive, and wanted George to do it for him. It was amazing that it made it in there in the first place, but getting it out was another story. George spent the next two hours backing it out, inch by inch, hoping to leave the gate intact. He did manage to get it out without any damage to the property, and the truck finally went on its way, at 1:oo am.
Friday, George went to Arusha to pick up Julia, Jacob, and Kelly from ACSOP. They are enjoying a month-long break, during campaign time. We’ve worked hard over the past few days, continuing to put our place in order.
Monday, our family went to Arusha in order to spend a little time
John and Elly Finally Get Some Supper
John and Elly enjoying a bite of supper, before getting on the road to head back to Arusha. A long day for them! with the group of campaigners. We enjoyed a nice meal at the home of Cy and Stephanie Stafford, then enjoyed a singing. In addition to the group from Northport, AL, there is also a group from FHU, as well as a few other people, who have come to participate in the campaign work.
This evening, George taught the first lesson in a series that he will be teaching on Wednesday evenings for the Moshi congregation. He is teaching a series on The Home, and those that were present this evening are excited about the class. There is a great need for these lessons here, and we are excited about the impact that they can have on the church here in Moshi.
On another note, I thought you might be interested in a few creatures that have tried to share our home. They didn’t get far, but it was far enough!! We are sure glad to be in our regular beds, up off the floor, where things creep in the night!
Please continue your prayers in our behalf. We know that so many are thinking about and praying for us daily. We know that the prayers of the

glad your container has arrived
Yes ,I'm happy for you to have your own things again. I'm sure it feels like being home again, even though it is a new one, to have YOUR things. I'm glad your beds are raised so the creatures don't join you. That would be a very big YIKES!!! for me to have that kind of bed partner. Keep up the good work. Ferrell
