This last week, we took a small, family vacation to Peponi Beach. John had a week off in between the campaigns and starting a new quarter at the school, so we took advantage of the opportunity to have some family time. The beach is absolutely beautiful. Even better, there were only two other families at the beach, so we basically had the whole place to ourselves. We stayed in what they called a "family banda". It was a small, two room thatched hut. The floors were cement and the walls were half cement/half thatch. Daniel loved it and kept calling it out new house. 😊

Every morning we woke up, the kids asked about the water. Daniel would ask if the water was still there(he was afraid it would disappear over night.) and Abby would simple just say, "wawa". Both of them loved playing in the sand and the waves. Daniel's favorite part was looking for seashells in the EARLY morning--luckily John got the privelege of the early morning walks. Abby and I chose to sleep in-till 7:00. 😉 Abby's favorite part was the swimming pool. We found out we have a little daredevil in the makings. She would stand

on the side of the pool and jump in, whether anyone was there to catch her or not!!!

Here are some pictures. Hope you all enjoy....

Love,
John, Angie, Daniel, and Abby

There was a small fishing village right next to where we stayed. Every morning they all went out to fish.

This is a boat that will take people out to a sand island where they have snorkling. John is actually standing behind the boat (in the ocean) to take the picture. The water was only knee high.

This is during low tide. I took this picture to show how far out the boat actually is (and the water is still only ankle deep!!!). During high tide, the water covered the seaweed you see on the beach.

Building a Castle

Daniel and Abby worked hard trying to build a castle. They didn't get very far before one of them knocked it down. It seemed it was more fun to destroy the sand castle than to build it.

We passed several small African villages on the way to Peponi. Most of the houses were made out of mud and had thatched roofs on them.

I want to come to your new house!
The mini vacation looks like it was wonderful! I'm like Daniel and Abby...I really like your new house (lots of beds for company :-) You are making precious memories for yourselves and those beautiful children. Since you are such terrific parents, I don't guess I'll sue for custody after all :-)

Hi John and Angie, It is a great work you'll are doing. I know it is a great sacrifice you are making by going to Africa, but it will be something you will always remember and there will be much work for Christ's Church. I have signed up for the blog.
