this is just a window at the rural homestead we stopped at
The day started slow. Around 10am we decided to split up the team and I got to go out with Deano, Miles, and Magugu to the rural area to the east and we filmed boys herding cattle. We did some portraits and shots of the boys with the cattle and I got a little sound, but nothing great. We kept driving and as luck would have it the first homestad we stopped at allowed us to shoot portraits of their family and around their home doing some chores. I took stills of the younger people and they loved looking at the camera and seeing their photos. It was a lot of fun and I am really glad that Jim had me with that group that day. We left the homestead, took some more portraits along the road, and then stopped at a market for more portraits. Bought and ate some good bananas at the market. On the way back to Mbabane we stopped in Manzini and found some street kids to film. We filmed 4 boys and gave them 20 Rand each, which is about $3.50. They were thrilled. I did feel a little exploitive. A guy from Ethiopia stopped

and talked to us disapprovingly. We got back to the hotel and I can't remember anything else.

Miles shot video of everybody, then would show them the video--probably the first time they'd ever seen video OR pictures of themselves
