01 Family
A family of hippos on a walk. Geo: -28.5508, 29.9048
We went for our last game drive this morning. I saw the cutest sighting – a family of hippos, three adults and a very little one. Not much was seen for a while. The news then came over the radio – there was a lion sighted on a kill. Brett drove us to the sighting. The visibility was not great as we could not get very close. It was a male lion sitting near his kill of a young giraffe. The lion was not active at all. After about ten minutes of watching him we headed back to the lodge.
Paul and I packed our bags. We were sad to be leaving and would love to have stayed for longer. After a delicious brunch Brett drove us to the car park at the entrance of the reserve. Here we packed our bags into our car and said goodbye and thank you to Brett.
For the next four nights we were going to be staying with a friend from work, Francois. His family's farm is in Verde, which is in the Free State. It was only a few hours drive away from here.
Our sightings for the morning were eland,
02 Eating
The hippos eating grass. hippo, impala, black-backed jackal, kudu, lion, common reedbuck, warthog, blue wildebeest and zebra.
