The weather dawn bright and clear for the last full day of the trip and Table Mountain looked stunning. This was just as well because it was we had a coach and walking tour around Cape Town which started with a ride up the mountain in its revolving cable car to admire the widespread views of the city and the sea beyond.

Other places visited during the day were:

Castle of Good Hope built by the Dutch in the 17th Century to defend Cape Town where we watched the changing of the guard.

The District Six Museum which details the forced eviction in the 1960s and 70s of the residents of this former area of the city prior to its clearance.

The Parliament Building.

Company’s Gardens which started as the vegetable patch for the Dutch East India Company.

The Waterfront Area which is now a bustling mix of shopping malls and restaurants.

Everyone has been remarkably helpful to Wendy while we have been travelling and at the farewell dinner in the evening she bought them all a glass of sparkling wine to say thank you.
