The weekends have been filled with sightseeing...the first weekend being the fantastic Cape Town cultural weekend. After being transferred to a nice hostel called Ashanti we made our way to 'Mama Africa' to be greeted to a wonderful atmosphere! The food and music/entertainment was truly captivating!! It was one of my best nights out most certainly in Cape Town and to present date!! The next day we had beautiful weather for our cape peninsular tour which was PERFECTION!!! The whole day was filled with treasured memories, the sights were magnificent and each stop was an incredible experience...from being overwhelmed by the beauty of the coastline, a boat ride to see seal island, a bike ride to our picnic destination, Walking to the top of Cape point to be mesmerized by truly stunning views as well as cape of good hope and many other locations along the way! It was an amazing experience to share this day with such a fabulous group of friends...a day that goes down in history as one of the best!! It was this day that I completely fell in love with South Africa and all its beauty! The next day everyone joined together for a township tour which included experiencing a South African church service...which if I remember correctly was around 4 hours...a good experience but a little too long for most of us! We then went on to a restaurant in the heart of the township which served meat in a bucket and supplied drinks for all which was a good social experience!

The weekend that followed I went back for a day trip to Cape Town to visit my cousin. It was another glorious day and I managed to fit in seeing a wonderful South African market with great atmosphere, music, food and stalls! We had breakfast as the market was being set up and by the time we had finished catching up the place was packed with people...a very popular social location it appeared! I also tried a milk tart for the first time...which is a typical South African treat and very yummy!! We went on to walk up to the top of Lions head (not being prepared for the heat and trek in jeans, sneakers and a long sleeve top! lol) to again be blown away by the panoramic view at the top!! After working up quite an appetite we finished the day with fish and chips at the waterfront with a view of the harbour and

My last weekend was another amazing experience shared with two friends from GVI at the 'Franschoek uncorked' wine festival. We had a rather eventful trip by 4 different minibus taxi's...one of them being dropped off in the middle of nowhere and the next taken through a questionable location, being stared and laughed at by the Africans...a little nerve wracking to say the least! However we finally ended up safely at the delightful lodge we stayed at overnight with glorious sunshine. The day soon turned around to be another one of the best! Our first taste of the vineyards was incredible, we were extremely enthusiastic about making it to the festival, the first impression really made it for us, and being surrounded with live music, scrumptious wine and views to die for...one of the many vineyards we visited being the highest point overlooking the breathtaking views of Franschoek!! I would very much like to revisit this quaint little town as we didn’t get a chance to really have a look around...other than a yummy chocolate making tour in a shop where they handmade chocolates. We learnt a little in this class as well as the divine sampling!! 😊
It is so hard to describe in words the beauty that surrounded us and the experience at the vineyards, each one being so unique, even the pictures don’t even come close to capturing the special moments we shared through the tour...breathtaking!!
