Relaxing in Upington

Colette and Dave Taylor decided to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary at Kuthula Lodge in Upington and invited a few friends along for a long weekend.
Kuthula Lodge was like a little lush paradise in the dessert, with its deep green grass and lush Kameeldoring bome contrasting against the red sand dunes and blue skies. It was really hot during the day, making it really easy to spend a lot of time in and around their crystal clear pool.

The De Klerk family are very hospitable and made sure we were settled and looked after our every need, Ma Beulah cooked the most amazing roast lamb for us (fresh from their farm). We relaxed and enjoyed many laughs.
On Saturday we had a braai in the Lapa entertainment area of the lodge. The kitchen has all the crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware to cater for.. I guess around 100 people.. the pool is also close by just in case the heat gets to you...

We went for a try on their 4x4 sand dune track down to the Orange River...yikes!! and NO...we did not get stuck, and neither did the Land Rover (that we know

of anyway!)

Colette had us dress up in cowboy outfits, but not all played along, so it was just Salomie, Whitey, Colette and I got dressed up for the photo shoot...oh and Kylie! Yip the doggie went along and absolutely loved the heat!
There are 3 chalets (with aircon!) and 5 campsites (each with own toilet and shower!) And 1 house (3 bedr.) available on the farm, and all of them were perfect. Beulah thought even of the smallest little detail in setting up the chalets. Oh and we loved the outdoor shower as well!

All too soon our weekend came to an end and with Tamsin and Kylie in the bakkie we headed home on a 10hr drive back to Cape Town...yip.. Kylie went along and survived the trip even though a scorpion decided to share her bag/bed, but he came off second best (oops, sorry!)
We had an awesome time!
Thanks to the Taylors, Whites and De Klerks
xx
