Durban By Night
Overlooking the city from Janey's flat It didn't take long to drive down to Durban from the Central Berg. We were catching up with Ryan & Nat from our overland trip, so we booked to stay at Hippo Hide in the Berea area, as this was close to where our Kiwi mates were staying with Nat's godmother, Janey. Her flat was right opposite the Musgrave Centre, so we went for lunch at Mugg & Bean, confusing the poor waitresses (as always!). Then we drove down to the North Beach for a walk along the prom. It was Friday afternoon and there were lots of children playing in the sand and surfers enjoying the waves. That evening we went for drinks and dinner at Sak's on Wilson's Wharf. It was fun to hang over the jetty and watch the little crabs and fishies darting around for the scraps of bread some of the diners were throwing over. Nat ordered us Shark Bite shooters, a cocktail of Apple Sourz and Tabasco - burney! Another one for brother Chris to enjoy.
Airshow Jase was very excited because Durban Wings club was hosting an airshow over the weekend. As it was a private airshow, it was quite different to our

Dinner with Nat, Ryan, Janey and friends experiences of RAF military planes back home. It was a jam-packed programme and we really enjoyed the Pitts Specials (the aerobatics plane Rach flew before) and the Extra 300s which are used in the Red Bull Races. The Daks were noisy and lots of fun too and the Mirage was the most impressive jet of the day. Jase always attracts the weirdos and some guy in a white pilot suit tried to strike up conversation with him about the jets, but he clearly knew sod all because he hadn't heard of a Tornado or the Eurofighter. Nat bought a styrofoam plane, which we decided to launch from the balcony of Janey's top floor flat that evening. Nat wrote her New Zealand name and address on the back, so hopefully she might get it back message-in-a-bottle style! As Durban has such a thriving Indian community, we thought it would be rude not to go for a curry. Yum! The Chicken Tikka Masala was a bit spicier and less creamy than home but delish all the same. The Cobra was a pound a bottle so that was obviously too expensive, so we stuck to Hansa lager instead (how are we going to

Eating Wabbits!
The silly bugger jumping looks as if the flag is sticking out of his bottom. I suppose it means more control for his parachute with both hands steering.
