A day spent largely on the road. Once we left the park it was good tarmac roads. We saw spectacularly close giraffe as we left the camp. We stopped at the very African town of Rundu for supplies at the supermarket. It seems common policy to search customers and compare receipts against bag contents. We bought cheap umbrellas as parasols and put them to immediate use against the fierce sun. The heat increased much during the day but luckily our campsite had the luxury of a pool in which we refreshed ourselves. There are many guinea fowl on site and Jen was lucky enough to see a honey badger which are fearsome little creatures. At sunset we did a boat trip on the Kavango river which borders Angola. Angolan locals were bathing in the river. At one point we grounded and had to climb out near the Angolan bank - so I claim to have stood on Angolan soil.
