Last Day in Rabat

Friday at school was a day the kids get to play games. In the morning we got to do our usual and work with the younger children and then head to our stay home for the sacred couscous lunch. Our host family's couscous was amazing and I think it was our first meal without bread. We then headed back to school and Jill and my activity we did with the kids was show them how to make origami fortune tellers. We had them colour the outsides, place the numbers 1-8 on the insides and then wrote animal names on the inner sides. A lot of the kids loved them and wanted 2-3 to take home. We also got to play musical chairs and the kids and man are they ever aggressive! We stayed a lot longer at school on our last day, as it was sad to leave the kids as this experience we got to live was one we will never forget. Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast with our host family (cake...LOL) and then said our good byes. It was very sad, as in one week you become very attached to a wonderful family that takes you in and treats you like family. Khadija the 6 year old was upset to have us leave, she cried and cried and didn't want us to leave. We finally made our way and off to the train station to catch the train from Rabat to Fez which was about a 2 hour train ride. The country side is amazing and you really get to see the poverty in this country. Houses crumbling down with people still living in them. Not my cup of tea but it is all they live here. We arrived at the Fes train station and found ourselves a pete taxi and asked him to take us to our riad which he didn't know where it was and I showed him a screen shot I took on my phone of where I wanted to go and he agreed to take us where I showed him. Upon dropping us off at the main medina gate Jill and I were then on a trek to find our riad in Fes. To be continued... Tyler
