Will I get to Madagascar before I die?
As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, NY (late l930's through college education 195), I was always fascinated by the name 'Madagascar,' an island that I looked at every day on my world map adorning my desk in my bedroom. I'm 75 today and I don't think I'll ever accomplish that dream. By the way, when I was teaching French and Spanish at the University of Bridgeport (1967-1990 before our faculty strike), I did, in fact, have a student in one of my classes who hailed from Madagascar. He was a wonderful young man and we chatted often about his native country. Boy, I'm glad to have seen the photos on these pages of the island. One can only hope.
